Spot U campaign goes national

World AIDS Day: Dec 1st

The Spot U campaign goes national

We're expanding our Spot U program by going national.  First we created the Spot U public service announcement that ran on cable.  Then we created the webcast show that went international. And recently the Spot U commercial won the Telly Award People's Choice Award.

Now, just in time for the Back to School season, the Long Beach AIDS Foundation is launching the "It's Only Their Future" campaign to help parents begin the conversation with their children on HIV awareness.

The Spot U program just keeps getting better.

The facts are that technology is moving at the speed of light and many non-profits are having a difficult time catching up to today's youth-embraced technologies to communicate, interact and create activism.  It requires "outside-the-box" thinking to fully engage youth and adolescents.  Outreach has to be more than the "build it and they will come" approach.

The Foundation, with the help of the former Cable Positve organization to be one of the first organizations in the nation to use all social networks, blogs, webcast, video networks and multi-method delivery systems. Participants come from all over the world.

That's not bad for a small non-profit trying to make an impact on HIV among youth and adolescents. But we need parents to also help in having frank, open discussions with their kids.  So here we go again! Read how the Foundation is making this program a success!

Spot U website gets an upgrade.

Just in time for the Back to School season, the Spot U website is getting another upgrade in August.  Here's just a sampling of the new menu items that will be available on the new Spot U web site starting in August. But the site will also have a host of new tools for teens and adolescents, plus a section for parents.

Plus, Nick is back from Northern California and he'll be hosting the new webcast on Spot U.  You, too can have your own show on Spot U.  Call us and if you're talking about it in school, let's share good helpful information with your peers.

You'll have your own fanbase, blog and more.  You write, produce and direct the show. Be sure to ask your parents for approval if you're a minor.

Award Winning Program just works.

This peer-to-peer program incorporates blog & webcasting along with social network integration.  That's a mouthful but what does that mean?

The facts are that technology is moving at the speed of light today and nonprofits traditionally have a difficult time catching up to using today's youth-embraced technologies to communicate, interact and create activism.  It requires "re-imagining" to fully engage youth and adolescents.  Outreach has to go beyond the four-walls of an organization to remain relevant.  Just ask any youth where and how do they become advocates for a cause.  The answer you will get may surprise you.  Throw out those old books!  The rules have changed!

The Foundation was one of the first organizations in the nation to use the majority of social networks, blogs, webcast, video networks and multi-method delivery systems to reach youth and adolescents.  Our participants are from all over the world. Now we're expanding our Spot U program even more with the peer-to-peer, multi-point delivery.

The program even won the National People Telly Awards for the public service announcement 'Now that You Know...".  We call it "High-Velocity Change", you may call it fast adaptability.  Whatever the case, responding to the needs of the community requires fast implementation while responding to the needs.  Adjustments can always be made, but letting opportunities to address issues facing Teens and Adolescents can't wait.

Project: Red Paints returns for the 4th Year. An unqualified success!

Project: Red Paint began as an adjunct to the World AIDS Day event back in 2006 and has been getting bigger every year.  Now Project: Red Paint has inspired similar projects in the Chicago Schools and Antelope Valley School District.  We're hoping more cities copy or borrow this very popular program with the students and public.

Originally sponsored by JBrand Jeans' Susie Crippen and inspired by Bryan Boone, Project: Red Paint, has been an amazing program that has resulted in tangible results in preventing HIV and STDs through art.

We've heard lots of terrific stories from students and parents on how this art program moves, inspires and motivates students to bring awareness about HIV and AIDS to the general public.

Art is displayed a gallery for public viewing, for 2010 this will be Lyon Art Supply's gallery in the East Village.  The public and art jury decide who are the 15 Finalists whose art pieces are selected compete at World AIDS Day event on December 1st.

Winners will receive an award and prize money from our sponsor. This event is FREE to the public
