World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day Event:
World AIDS Day was observed
on December 1, 2007 at the Museum of Latin American Art hosted by Long
Beach AIDS Foundation and it's 14 collaborative partners.
We want to apologize to all
those people who could not get in to the World AIDS Day event to see the
high-tech multi-media event.. The Foundation estimated that
250-350 people would attend this year's event. Unfortunately, we
filled the Balboa room to 450 people and the Museum had to turn away 250
people. That's 700 people or a 10-fold increase over last year,
but we figure that's good problem to have for once.
The event-filled evening
included the museum, a multi-media
spectacular,
reception, final round art
scholarship competition, silent art
auction, health fair, food and beverage, free HIV testing, dancing
and live entertainment by Culture Shock LA, Folklorico Ballet, Kaiser
Permanente Educational Theatre Group and the Cambodian Community
Dancers.
A Resource Guide was developed that
included all local resources for HIV/AIDS services and programs in the
local service provider area (SPA 8). Additional copies are
available while quantities last*
