Long Beach AIDS Foundation

The Long Beach AIDS Foundation, Inc., a non-profit agency was formed at the end of 2004, as a result of its official separation from One in Long Beach, Inc. (dba: The Gay & Lesbian Center of Long Beach).  The goal was to embark on a new road that would rededicate our efforts to raising funds for local HIV/AIDS service and education agencies, make a real impact on HIV/AIDS in Long Beach, and chart a course for growth and change.

The Long Beach AIDS Foundation operates as a program AIDS Walk Long Beach (formerly AIDS Walk of Greater Long Beach) and still operates as an all-volunteer organization.  When a small group of volunteers in 1988 formed AIDS Walk of Greater Long Beach, AIDS hit Long Beach with a vengeance. Our neighbors, friends, companions, family and domestic partners were dying.

They desperately needed help from someone and had nowhere to turn.  AIDS Walk of Greater Long Beach was one of the first organizations to begin helping our Long Beach citizens.  Since very little funding came from federal, state or local government, AIDS Walk of Greater Long Beach was the only collective source of funding for many beneficiary agencies.

Now known simply as AIDS Walk Long Beach under the Long Beach AIDS Foundation, the Walk has provided funding for over 30 beneficiary agencies totaling more than $ 1.9 million dollars. As the Foundation now faces 25 Years of AIDS in the United States, and with still no end to AIDS, the Foundation has challenged itself to make real impacts into the war on AIDS.

The Long Beach AIDS Foundation is conducting several different major fundraising initiatives. The goal will be to raise more funds than ever that will allow the programs to transition to funding cycles to better serve these agencies and impact HIV/AIDS.  Our plans include: creating a foundation, offering endowments, and creating ‘outside-the-box’ initiatives that offer help in critical areas of needs and under-served populations.

Some creative programs are in various stages of implementation and have begun their roll-out cycle. We are developing new partnerships, private and public, in creating new ways to address the issues facing our larger community.  At the core of our efforts, is that fact that we will remain an all-volunteer organization as long as possible so that every dollars benefits the community.  But we need your help to volunteer.  Come join us on a "Life Changing Experience".
