Foundation and Walk Volunteers
The Long Beach AIDS
Foundation / AIDS Walk Long Beach is an all-volunteer
organization. The Foundation hosts many events
throughout the year to provide education and raise funds
for HIV/AIDS service and prevention organizations.
Volunteers are the "Life
Blood" of the Foundation. The Event Steering
Committee, Sub-Committees, Board of Directors and Office
Administration are all volunteers. The Foundation
also host the AIDS Walk Long Beach, the largest AIDS
fundraising event in the South Bay. The work
starts early in the year and volunteers are a critical
component to the success of AIDS Walk Long Beach.
Without volunteers, the organization cannot function,
period. We need people like you to help year
round, but especially in the critical early months of
the year to ramp up the events.
WHAT WE NEED NOW:
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
-
Do you prefer to collate mailings,
chat with participants on the phone or hit
the streets to register walkers?
- Are you a
"people" person with the ability to
energize walkers and team captains to
fundraise?
- Are you
excellent at public speaking or adept at
classroom environment training?
Whether
you're looking for a relaxing evening
activity or a challenging project tailored
to your skills, there is a place for
everyone at the Foundation office. We also
partner with JMAC Foundation who provide
volunteers to other HIV/AIDS organizations
in the Los Angeles, Long Beach and Orange
County areas. Please visit the JMAC
link for more information about their
Foundation.
In January,
we'll begin staffing for volunteers for the
year's events and for the ramp-up of AIDS
Walk. When you contact us, we will inquire
as to your availability, skills, desires,
specialties and interests. We value
you as our volunteers and subscribe to a
Volunteer Code of Ethics and a Volunteer
Treatment Philosophy. We want you to
enjoy your experience as a volunteer and
evaluate your experience through surveys.
VOLUNTEER
